Weather station

Located in the north-central area of Cecil County Maryland, the current location of Cecil Weather Weather station was setup on August 27, 2010. This stations is powered by a Davis Instruments Vantage Pro2 Weather Station. The weather station linked to WeatherCat Software which collects every few seconds. This information is then uploaded to this website every 30 seconds.

The station is located in a open area and with the exception of wind speed all sensors are reasonably accurate. An analysis of station accuracy can be seen by going to the Citizen Weather Observer Program website. As for wind speed, this tends to under-report approximately 25%-30% due to forested areas located to the north and south of the observation site and also due to the anemometer currently being mounted at a height of 2 meters instead of the standard 10m.

Prior to being moved to the station's current location, from June 2007 thru August 2010 the station operated in Ellicott City/Elkridge Maryland area, which is just southwest of Baltimore.
